Once again a lovely drawing of Longacre ironstone mine, long gone now, but still remembered; the former site is close to the present day Asda store and the public house which bears the name “The Longacre”.

The mine was abandoned in 1934; following the development of the Boulby Potash mine further up the hillside from the Grinkle Ironstone mine very little survives to this day. Loftus Senior School Cricket Team were East Cleveland Cricket Cup Winners in 1956; final match score for the season was Lingdale 45 all out, Loftus 47 for 7.
