I believe this was the last train over the viaduct. A day after the Guisborough passenger service ended .
The section east of Guisborough had seen no traffic for a few years but not officially closed and was used for wagons storage
I think Russ is right. but there were certainly a lot of stored wagons on the line. I believe one line on the double track sections of the line had to be cleared for the brake van special to run. I went to Guisborough on a passenger train in 1956; it went on to Whitby via the coast after propelling back down from Guisborough. I don’t remember the brake van special going into Guisborough station in 1963.
