An Unveiling.

As the caption says an unveiling but where and when? The Archive would welcome assistance in any identification.

Job Done.

The unveiling finished, job done. Ray Tough informs us: ”It was probably the opening of the new extension at Eston Town Hall with the new Mayor’s office and Councillor’s room. Left to right are Councillor Arthur Taylor, Norman Lantsbery and Council Leader, Arthur Seed.”

Giving Cheques Away Again

Once again we see Norman giving away a cheque, but who to and where and when was the photo taken?  HELP. Craig White tells us: “‘Barney’ Buckworth Redcar lifeboat coxswain is the holding cheque , so possibly a cheque for RNLI?”

Where And When?

Another official occasion, identified to date:  Mr W A Middleham (Chief Executive Langbaurgh Borough Council), Norman Lantsbery, ?? , Mrs Barwick, Mrs Middleham. But what was the occasion?

Very Serious

A very serious photograph, but who is the Police Superintendent with Norman Lantsbery and on what occasion? J. Champion assists with: “My dad (Bob Foster ex Middlesbrough police) names him a Superintendent Ted McLean.”

Swinging 70’s?

Certainly swinging but where? Ray Tough tells us: “This photograph was taken whilst Norman was Mayor of Langbaurgh Borough Council so must have been in the 1970s.”

Ready, Steady, Go.

Hmm! Norman with a gun could be dangerous!  Roger Barwick tells us: ”I think the occasion was the opening of  sports ground along North Road. I remember having to supply a car (mine) and act as chauffeur (without the uniform); I suspect the official car and or Terry (official chauffeur) were on other duties.”

Handing Out the Cheques

The Archive could initially identify the two ladies on the left as Mrs Margaret Bowers and Mrs Barnes both from East Loftus, but didn’t know the others in the photograph; other than Norman. But Alan Chilton told us: ”The lady on the extreme right was Mrs Elsie Leonard wife of Museum founder Tom Leonard” and Eric Jackson added: “The cheque presentation is in the Mayor’s parlour at Langbaurgh Town Hall, Eston; c1981.”

Do you know who anybody else in the picture?

Where Are They Going?

Norman Lantsbery is shown assisting with loading the van, but the Archive’s question is who are they; what with and where are they going, anybody know the answers? Peter Ashton comments: “The yellow circle on the ground (in the shadow of the truck) would strongly suggest a schoolyard or similar. A collection of “relief” to be sent to some charity? Hairstyles suggest late-60s to early-80s?”

The Lantsbery’s Again

On the right is Mayor Norman Lantsbery and Mayoress Hilda Barwick; Ray Tough advises: “Also in the photograph is the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire. Believed to be in the entrance to Langbaurgh Town Hall.”
