Stepping out

I had forgotten how many different organisations had made banners and took part in the parade.  North Skelton Silver Band, leading the Revival banner, followed by Easington; were you there?

Carlin How and Others

More groups setting off from the Leisure Centre with their banners; communities, organisations and schools all joined in.

More Colourful Banners

I think the colourful banner in front of this group was from Rosecroft School, with Whitecliffe Primary from Carlin How further back.

Harry Dack on the March

Mrs. Hitchen and Mrs. Horness helped the children with Harry Dack School’s banner along West Road; followed by Warsett School. The parade went along West Road, up Westfield Terrace and Westfield Way to the football field. I believe there were stalls and activities up there but can’t remember any details. Can you tell us more?

The Queen’s Birthday Parade, 2010

Mrs Scott, Ian Bell, Mayor Linda Bell, Peter Scott, Rev. Adam Gaunt, Mrs Marjorie Veal, Mr Gaunt, with other councillors and Loftus people, viewed the parade outside St Leonard’s church. Also present is a Guisborough Sea Cadet and members of the Army Cadets under the direction of Chief Officer R. Fielding. Can anyone help with more names, please?

Cyril and Ivy’s Wedding

This wedding group photo was taken in Tyne St, East Loftus, in 1930. The groom, Cyril Edwin Guite, is standing at the back with Sarah Elizabeth Guite (nee Hopper), and Richard Adamson Guite. Harry Bowers, Elizabeth Vincent (Harry’s wife) and the bride, Ivy Lilian Bowers, are in front.

A Local Wedding

Two local people after their wedding in the 1948, taken outside Loftus Police Station. The wedding, between Dave Smith of Coronation Street, Carlin How and Maisie Rowland of West Road, Loftus took place on 7th August 1948. The ceremony was held in the Congregational Church and, as there was no frontage to the church, the photographs were taken, as Ray Brown tells us, outside Loftus police station. The bride’s guardians, Tom and Nellie Steyart, were close friends of Frank Watson the Police Inspector in charge at Loftus. Bridesmaids: Mrs. Ruby Johnson (Lindsley) cousin of the bride, Miss P. Tyreman, Miss T. R. Mintoft, Miss J. Baxter and Miss Eileen Money. Best Man: Mr Frank Liddiard. Ushers: Mr G. Rowland,  Mr. J. R. Mintoft. The officiating clergy Rev. Maurice Clegg. Carole Benson advised the Archive: “My Mother is the bridesmaid on the far right, Ruby Johnson (born Ruby Lindsley) of Loftus; Maisie was her cousin.”
