Dress Code – Fancy Dress

A wonderful array of costumes, but we need help with names, date and the occasion. Janis Bonner has advised: “4th in, on the back row, is my mother Margaret Tilley ( nee Pearson) dressed as a gypsy girl. She will have been about 15/16 years old which dates the photograph circa 1946/47. She has a copy of this somewhere. I’ll ask her if she remembers the names of the others.” Janis Bonner can now assist again: “My Mother Margaret recognised some of her fellow fancy dressers!

Back row: Dennis Codling, Margery Lofthouse, Eileen May, Margaret Pearson, Lorna Chipchase ,Peggy Garner, Mr. Tart (Youth Leader)
Middle Row: George Cox, Abel Roberts, Tommy Andrews, Naughty Nighties on the end are Greta Baldwin and Hilary Coverdale.

This image has us completely foxed. Too young to be a Youth Club member, but in their scrapbook was this battered photograph. Can you tell us why it is there and more importantly who is he?

Again an unknown occasion. We can identify: second from the right Mr G. Hebditch; the other being Lord Guisborough. Can you help with the names of the prize winners?

Cutting the Cake

Was it a birthday or just a bit of a do? We would love to know. Can we have assistance with a date, names or the occasion? Margaret Atkinson advised that the young lady cutting the cake had a mother with a shop in High Row, Loftus; whilst Tony Money added: “The lady cutting the cake is Kathleen Heselton, and the family did have a shop at the bottom of High Row, number 50. Kath was a member of the Youth Club Badminton team and the cake could be for winning an award.”
