Perhaps a hint to the enemy so they were given a code name reflecting their shape and became known as \u201dTanks\u201d<\/strong><br><strong>The rear tank in the photograph appears to be a \u201dfemale\u201d; \u201dmale\u201d tanks were armed with 6 pounder guns and \u201dfemales\u201d with machine guns. Each tank carries a ditching \u201dbeam\u201d in case of bogging down in trenches or shell craters.
