Gas Works Site

The Gas Works site at the time of these photographs still had a gas holder in-situ, it can bee seen on the extreme left of this image.

    On the left of the image is the remaining gasholder, No3. The brick building in the middle of the image still exists. This was the booster house to transfer gas into the gasholders. The two older gasholders have been demolished at the time of the photograph, but the semi circular retaining wall can still be seen. In the distance, on the other side of the beck, can be seen the stores, garage and main booster house. In the background the ‘Middle Primrose Hill’ terrace which was later demolished.

    Yes and it was my best playground in the world especially my dads garden and pigeon cote over the bridge and my firiends and I used to play kiss catch around all the gas holders sshh!
