Loy House as it once was, no sign remains today of its presence, one of several dwellings in the area that were demolished. Image courtesy of the Pem Holliday Collection. Believed to be a view of Loy House, on Loy Lane; but we are unsure. Can anybody assist in identifying this building? An early 20th century postcard view of Egton Bridge and the river Esk; how quiet it all seems. Image courtesy of John G. Hannah. This postcard view was un-posted and we have no knowledge of the publisher; however from the handwritten inscription it is believed to be from the early 20th century. Image courtesy of John G. Hannah This view of the double bridge at Claphow, on the road connecting New Skelton to Lingdale; shows a time much quieter for traffic. Pity the poor modern-day horse driver if he attempted to drive in the middle of the road! |
